When discussing neighbor noise we generally have two main noise sources. Airborne noise comes from TV and stereos, while “footfall” noise from someone upstairs walking or running, usually on hard flooring. This footfall component makes ceiling treatments the most challenging of all to solve.

Note that in any soundproofing project, we would prefer to install the treatment on the sound producing side of the wall or ceiling, though this is generally not possible.
